I went to take the Information Systems and Computer Applications CLEP at the NAVY college. Well, the advisor said that the exam would be easy since I teach IT and computer related subjects in the NAVY. In addition, the Navy college had in the eCLEP sheet that this CLEP was for beginning students with some computer knowledge.

So I took the test and realized that this test was more related to the business aspect of the computers and barely had any computer application types questions. If I had to judge, I would said there was about 25% on the test. Granted I passed, but for someone who has beginners' knowledge with computer might have gotten a low score or fail.

I recommend reading and knowing the objectives on the test and knocking it out. I just wanted people out there to know what they are getting themselves into.

I've always felt the Info Sys CLEP was misleading as well, and that's one of the primary reasons I have it listed as a "4" on the difficulty scale. On the study guide I had a full page rant about it ambushing the unwary, but I pared it down to a few paragraphs instead. The MIS DSST is even worse if that's any consolation. ;)

All that being said, it is passable as you've proven, so congratulations! For those reading this with little IT experience, I think this demonstrates the need for some serious study. Don't underestimate this exam, but don't let it scare you too badly either. It all comes down to preparation!
