Ok test - Dry material - 50

by me

The test was a bit harder than I had expected to be rated a level 1 on this site. I used the clep principles of management exam book by comex systems, inc. Though it was a straight and to the point book, I think it was a bit outdated. There was quite a bit that showed up on the test that I didn't recognize. I took only one of the Peterson's tests and DID NOT use Instant cert. This was my first clep, I had had no previous knowledge, studied for two days, and squeaked by with a 50. It may have been the outdated material I used or the fact I felt this subject was really dry; either way when it was time for the test I relied heavily on my experiences from working in restaurants to answer several common sense questions. If you take time to study and use other sources such as instant cert it probably won't be so bad.

I am saying this because I recently used instant cert and took all three peterson's tests to take the human growth and development clep. I also took a week to study and referenced Wikipedia. This time I scored a 58. Quite a bit better, especially since this test is rated a level 3.

I also took the official study guide test from the college board book, I bought the 2009 ed. on a third party site for $6. I scored a 55 on the HG&D practice test. I looked over the Management exam in it and there was quite a few names and theories I recognized from the test. It may be beneficial to get this book and go over all the answer choices(even the wrong ones), as they will show up on the test.

Comex

Congrats on the pass and thanks for the feedback!

As mentioned on the free study guide for Principles of Management, I usually stay away from the official CLEP study material (Comex) because they tend to be outdated to the actual exams. Rudman's is the same way for the DSST's which is why you'll rarely find one of those recommended on here as well.

At the time of my test, there was still enough usable material in the Comex to make it worthwhile, but you're the second person in the last few months who has mentioned its shortcomings. Either they've changed enough of the test to make it less useful or I just got lucky on my exam. Either way, it looks like it's about time to remove that resource as a recommendation.

Anyone else care to speak up in Comex's defense? I'm planning a major site overhaul in the next few weeks so unless I get a slew of "It helped me!", Comex will disappear when that page is updated.

Thanks again for the feedback and congrats on both this pass and your HG&D credits!
