Failed Money and Banking...

by Jay
(Sunbury, OH)

I recently took the Money and Banking DSST, and failed it by two points. This was the first exam that I have failed since I was 15, and just starting out with taking CLEP/DSST tests, after a streak of passing like 20 in a row.

I primarily used the InstantCert study guide, with a little supplementation from a Money and Banking textbook. Unfortunately, it simply wasn't enough.

Just beware...this is a difficult test, and if you plan to use InstantCert, I say you should really supplement it quite a bit. The biggest thing to focus on is cause and effect scenarios...like if the Federal Reserve does this, what will happen to interest rates, etc. It's not enough to know terminology, you really have to understand the relationships between different players in the system.

Good luck everyone, and hope you do better than I did.

I feel your pain! I just took it and failed by 3 points. I also used instacert and a few other online resources but obviously it wasn't enough. I have passed several CLEPS/DSSTs and this was my first fail. My advice would be to study at least 2 weeks. I studied for a couple of days just like my other tests I passed, but could not pull this one off. Good luck to others who try this beast of a test!
